The Clarkston Varsity Volleyball team gave Stoney Creek their first loss in the OAA Red, Sept. 19 as the Lady Wolves defeated them 3-0.
“It was a big win for us,” said Kelly Pinner, head coach. “They had actually beaten Lake Orion the week before in league play. We knew they were coming in with a lot of confidence. They have a couple of strong hitters we knew we had to pay attention to. Being 3-0 in the league going into Orion has a nice feeling to it.”

Each game was close against the Cougars but Clarkston prevailed 25-20, 25-22, 27-25 to remain undefeated in the league.
“We have been in situations this year we have been in tight games and haven’t been able to finish,” said Pinner. “Being in a tight situation with Stoney and coming out on the winning end of it definitely helped us as we move forward – just finding a way to get it done when we need to.”
During the night, Abbey Malinowski had 17 kills and Jennifer Chupinsky had 14 digs.
The Lady Wolves (20-8, 3-0 OAA Red) opened the week against Lake Orion on Tuesday. They have seen Orion three times and lost each time.
“It’s tough losing to a team three times,” said Pinner. “ You have to put it behind you. It’s a brand time every time we see them. This is league play and will be different than any other time we have seen them. They know what they need to do.”
They host Birmingham Seaholm on Thursday when they hold Youth Night.
“We are doing something new,” said Pinner, adding all girls wearing a Clarkston Volleyball Camp T-shirt get into the game for free. Then, after the game varsity players are signing posters for $1 each with money going towards senior night.
