15 years ago – 2004
“School board proposes new cell phone policy” The elimination of a state law banning student use of cellular telephones led the Clarkston Community Schools Board of Education to draft their own policy.
“Clarkston resident finds the right price as show contestant” John Toomey, of Clarkston, was a contestant on the CBS’ daily show “Price is Right” while in California for his 21st birthday. The avid watcher made it to the Showcase Showdown and was on the stage with Bob Barker.
“Clarkston hoops dunk Pontiac Northern” With a thunderous dunk at the buzzer Wolf Chris Johnston entertained the crowd and capped a 62-50 win for the Clarkston Boys Varsity Basketball team over Pontiac Northern. He led the team with 23 points.

25 years ago – 1994
“Feast for Fat Tuesday” Trish Johnson lifted up a tray of paczkis at Food Town, off Waldon Road, as many residents were eating the treat on Fat Tuesday before Lent began.
“Young singers clean up at districts” Clarkston High School students sang their hearts out at the MSVMA Solo and Ensemble Festival. The soloists and ensembles earned 13 I (superior) ratings, 12 II ratings and two III ratings. The madrigal singers received a first-division rating.
“Grapplers take first in Brandon” It took overtime matches as the Clarkston High School Varsity Wrestling team won the Greater Oakland Athletic League meet at Brandon High School, finishing in first place with 198 points.

50 years ago – 1969
“Hire football coach” A three-member panel selected Paul E. Rakow as the new head football coach for Clarkston.
“Plans accepted” Final drawings for the new Administration Building were presented to the Clarkston Community Schools Board of Education. The building would be located on Clarkston-Orion Road. They also named the new school at Maybee and Pine Knob roads Sashabaw Junior High School during their meeting.
“Around the town” Mrs. Elsie Phillips, of Snowapple, graduated from the Famous Photographers School of Westport, Conn. She completed the three-year course in the creative art of photography offered by the home study school.
