The Wolves will face familiar foes in the MHSAA Boys Lacrosse Regional 5 Final on Wednesday at Clarkston High School.
The boys will play Rochester Adams for the crown and they beat the Highlanders earlier in the season in an 9-8 overtime win, May 9.
“They are a very good team,” said Clarkston Boys Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach Brian Kaminskas. “They have a pretty potent offense. I like our chances. I think our offense is stronger than their defense. It’s going to come down to athletes taking advantage of certain situations that hopefully we can create.”

He added the boys have improved since the last time they played Adams and have added five wins to their record.
“They are quick and a lot better,” Kaminskas said. “There was a slow period of the season for us – when the season starts to get long. They have refocused. They are moving a lot faster. They are sharper. We have a few things we are putting in this week in preparation – something new that isn’t on anyone’s film, no one has seen before.”
Adams defeated Bloomfield Hills 11-8 in the semifinals to advance and Clarkston posted their second consecutive mercy with a 19-1 win over Waterford United, May 21.
“It was good,” Kaminskas said about the win. “We were there to make a statement. The guys responded to the goals we are setting. The last three games we have scored 55 goals and let in ten. The last two games alone we scored 38 goals and let in two – we are pretty proud of it.”
Senior Drew Vandenberg put the Wolves on the scoreboard with the first goal of the night with his shot to the top of the net with 10:26 remaining in the first quarter.
Clarkston scored two more goals in the next 30 seconds with a shot from senior Eric Csizmadia off an assist from sophomore Jack Gurn, and a shot from senior Keagan King off a pass from Csizmadia.
The Wolves added three more to the board before Waterford scored their lone goal of the night with two minutes left in the first quarter.
Kaminskas added senior goalie Danny Milano is having a good stretch.
“ He is getting a lot of support from the defensive end from the long poles and the defensive middies as well,” he said.
Csizmadia, Vandenberg and junior Xander Green scored three goals each during the night. Csizmadia had three assists, Vandenberg had two assists and Green had one assist.
“Keagan is doing a great job at the face off,” Kaminskas added. “The quad of offenseman – Sam Lightfoot, Keelan McKouen, Drew and Eric are all together you can’t defend all of them at once. It makes it easy for us. They are all doing it all at the same time – scoring goals and on assists.”

UPDATED ON THURDAY, MAY 30: The Wolves defeated Adams for the regional championship on Wednesday, 12-6. Clarkston moves on to the semifinals at Walled Lake Northern on Friday. They will play Detroit Catholic Central at 6:30 p.m.
