I see my newest journey in steps.
Step one – must be in the spot where you are mentally there. Really, if you aren’t in it, the success isn’t going to be as big as you want it.
Step two – make the contact, which in this case was a quick email to Brittany Golden at Nuview Nutrition. It’s time to get back on plan. It’s time to get back on Shape Reclaimed.
It’s time to lose this weight I worked so hard during pregnancy to put on with popsicles and ice cream.
Step three – be ready for the path to shift as Brittany is fine with it but says for 30 days no sugar, no gluten and healthy dairy products.
I admit it did throw me off a bit but I was thinking going on Shape Reclaimed by at least mid-July since my aunts are coming to town. (But let’s be honest, it’s really easy to say no time is a good time. If you don’t start now, then before you know it it’s January and making the same goal/resolution as the year before.)
So…no sugar, no gluten. The more I thought about it, the more I was nodding my head “yes.” Yes – let’s do it.
Step four – cut out sugar and gluten and the step began on June 18. Though there were donuts, danishes and cake on the office counter would make me slide, it really didn’t. I know what it does to me. Plus to be honest, I don’t like donuts, so those two days were super easy.
What made it rough was saying “no” to the big blue eyes of three-year-old JD trying to share his bites of cereal or ice cream. He likes to share and I politely said “thank you” and for him to eat the bite. Or trying to explain how he might not like the taste of mom’s plain Greek yogurt when he has flavored Greek yogurt. He tasted mine. I must have had enough blueberries in there so it wasn’t as strong for him.
Jonathan received his sticker for reading 500 books in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program through our local library. He would have received it three weeks sooner if we hadn’t kept forgetting to take the tracking sheet off the calendar any time we left the house.
As for six-month-old Oliver, it might be too soon to see if he has caught the book bug. I am hopeful because he enjoys looking at a duck book and using his brother’s truck book as crawling motivation.
