Dasuqi, a 2013 graduate of Clarkston High School, played with the Jordan Basketball National Team in the Asian Conference qualifier games where the team won a seat to play at FIBA Basketball World Cup. Team Jordan played their first World Cup games on Sunday, Sept. 1, Tuesday, Sept. 3 and will continue on Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center in Shenzhen, China.
Dasuqi played NCAA collegiate basketball for Lake Superior State University until he graduated from the university with a computer engineering degree in 2018.
Prior he played for Clarkston Boys Varsity Basketball under the direction of Dan Fife, then-head coach, and Eric Chambers, then-assistant coach.
“I just want to say to all the kids growing up in Clarkston that whether you are in sports, music, academics, if you want something bad enough, and you put in the hard work, you really can live out the dreams that you aspire to have,” Dasuqi said. “Through basketball alone, I have traveled around the United States. I have been to 17 countries while playing in FIBA. I have also played against NBA players, and I now have a chance to play in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.”
He added none of his experiences would have been possible without the help from his Clarkston coaches.
“Particularly Dan Fife and Eric Chambers, as well as my college coaches, Coach Steve Hettinga and Tim Kisner,” Dasuqi said. “I must also give a special shout-out to my youth coach, Bart ‘Buzz’ Famularo who recently passed away. Coach Buzz made my love for the game of basketball elevate to a new level, and I will forever be grateful for that.”
