A 21-year-old Addison Township resident was recently taken into custody by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department for sexual misconduct.
Jason Sussman, a resident of the Hidden Lakes Estates trailer park, was arrested at midnight on Fri., Dec. 19, by officers at the Addison Township substation. He was arraigned on Sat., Dec. 20, on two counts of a sexually delinquent person and one count of window peeping. The first counts are felonies that carry a maximum of a life sentence and the second count is a misdemeanor.
Addison Substation Commander Sgt. Pete Burkett said this is a case that goes back quite some time, but reports of the situation are relatively recent.
According to Burkett, a resident of the Hidden Lakes trailer park reported in October that she had caught Sussman peaking in a window at her two children.
While investigating the situation, Addison Township Deputy Summers was approached by a different parent regarding a possible incident that took place in April of this year.
According to this mother, Sussman had come to her home and asked to take a shower. The woman says she allowed the man to shower, and while in the home, Sussman was allegedly wrestling with her two sons, ages 6 and 8, when he supposedly exposed himself. Burkett said the family chose not to report the situation at the time.
“They knew who he was, both families in these incidents,” confirmed Burkett.
The investigation into these reports began on Dec. 10, and Burkett had his warrants from the court by Dec. 19.
In addition to these charges, Sussman also has a brief record of sexual misconduct. In April of 2002, he was found guilty of indecent exposure and sentenced to 18 months probation after exposing himself to young children in an Addison Township church. The case was handled by Sgt. Walker and Deputy Pearson.
“He was still on probation when the other incidents occurred,” confirmed Burkett.
The court dates for the examination and trial are yet to be scheduled.
