Baseball starts with wins

The crack of the bat gave off the sound of the Wolves beginning their baseball season with a great start.
The boys varsity baseball team posted their first win last Friday against Rochester Adams, 12-10.
‘It was tough conditions because it was really windy out,? said Coach Phil Price. ‘Vince Siwicki did a nice job pitching. It was tough pitching because it was so windy.
Matt Rodgers got the ball rolling in the first inning hitting a 3-run homer. The boys held onto the lead until Adams captured it with 5-3.
‘We kept at it during the whole game and didn’t give up,? said Price. ‘We battled the whole game.?
Performances of the night came from Tyler Scarlett with three big hits, and a few hits froms Justin Baetz.
‘Connor Morris came in as a pitch hitter and got a big RBI for us,? said Price. ‘Jarret Coy pitched in the seventh inning and shut them down giving us an opportunity to win. I was proud of our kids. The guys who played, played the entire game. Sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to but I was proud of our kids and how the
competed.?
The boys lost to Lake Orion in their first game on April 14, 5-2. Jassiel Gonzalez had three hits and Matt Miller stepped onto the mound and pitched.
‘He shook the nerves after first inning and pitched great,? said Price.
The boys defeated Avondale in both double header games on Monday, 8-2 and 8-5. In the first game, Jake Sims had two hits, Chris Mocerino had two doubles, two runs and an RBI and Andrew Fairse was the winninng pitcher. Connor Morris had two hits, a run and an RBI in the second game.
The boys head to Rochester on Wednesday and the JV team stays home for their game. Both begin at 4;30 p.m. They host Troy on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
