Blackhawk swimmers fall to Broncos

The Brandon Blackhawks boys swim team lost to Holly in a dual meet on Jan. 3 that was hosted by the Blackhawks. After the first three events, the meet was tied up. The 200 medley relay team of Reece Lamson, Tim Hurst, Aaron Hussong and Bryan Swenson won the event with a time of 1:54.70 In the 200 meter freestyle, Team Captain Josh Dolecki placed second with a time of 2:08.25 In the 200 individual medley, Hussong won the event with a time of 2:22.33 and Tyler Gorney helped the cause with a fourth place finish at 2:35.75.
In the next three events, the Brandon Blackhawks began to fall behind as Holly High took the lead. In the 100 butterfly Hussong finished second in a very close race, losing by just .51 seconds. In the 100 yd. freestyle, Brandon swimmers Hurst, Swenson and Kyle Helmle finished third, fourth, and fifth to add some much needed points. In the 500 freestyle, Dolecki and John Durkee placed second and fourth in a hard fought battle. Freshman Lamson competed in the 100 yard backstroke, winning the event with a time of 1:05.37. Hurst and Gorney came in second and third in the 100 yard breaststroke, in a close race.
In the last event of the evening, the relay team of Dolecki, Hussong, Jonathon Kremer and Lamson finished second, and the team of Bryant Casey, Gorney, Helmle and Swenson placed third.
The next home meet will be at 6 p.m. on Jan. 15 against Kearsley High.
