The Clarkston-Area Backyard Birders Club will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 27, indoors in the atrium of The Gateway Lifestyle Shops at 7150 N. Main Street.
“We’ll have a presentation by Mark Jones, who has been monitoring bluebird boxes for nearly 30 years,” said Bob McGowan, founder and president of the Club. “Mark has new information and photographs to share since his popular presentation to the Club last year.”
There will also be a preview of the guest speaker roster and upcoming special events for 2019, as well as reports from members on unusual sightings and activity in their own backyards this winter.
“We’ve gotten quite a mixture of very unusual sightings recently, and many questions and concerns about the behavior of birds at the feeders in the unusual weather in our area this winter,” McGowan said. “We’ll hear from Steve Stroud, our host at The Gateway, with tips on helping birds get through these next demanding months with a plentiful supply of natural nourishment.”
The club, now entering its third year, meets indoors in the atrium of at The Gateway in cooler weather and in warmer months moves outdoors onto the patio overlooking the gardens and park-like setting.
All meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m., at The Gateway and are open to residents of north Oakland County, no reservations required. Meetings are cost-free and knowledge about birds is definitely not required.
