The Wolves put up a fight in their 65-64 loss to Westfield Prep at home, March 10.
“Our girls fought hard right to the very end,” said John Weyer, head coach for Clarkston Girls Varsity Basketball. “Westfield is a very talented, young team. We gave it everything we have. I am very proud of the girls and the effort. We had two girls foul out and they weren’t able to finish the game. They were giving all they could and left it all on the court.”
Westfield Prep grabbed the lead with 45 seconds left in the first quarter with two points putting the score, 14-12. They opened the second quarter with five points in the first minute to lead seven.
Izzy Hadley cut the lead scoring a basket while Maddy Skorupski made four baskets during the quarter to close the gap.
With 47 seconds remaining in the first half, Skorupski scored a 3-pointer to narrow the gap to two points.
“Maddy brought us back that second quarter,” Weyer said.
Westfield Prep scored two points but Clarkston reacted with two more points with 11 seconds to go with a basket by Morgan Hunter off a pass from Skorupski.
The Warriors attempted a 3-point shot before the half closed but it missed it’s mark and the score held at 32-30.
The second half remained the same as the Warriors would build onto their lead and the Wolves would close the gap to a few points.

Going into the last minute of the game, Westfield Prep had a 3-point lead and a few trips to the free throw line for both sides kept the game close.
With 40 seconds remaining, the Warriors’ lead went to five points. Keira Tolmie scored one point on the free throw line with 27 seconds left on the clock.
Skorupski followed it with a field goal 15 seconds later and Hunter closed the game with one point from the free throw line to put the score, 65-64, with four seconds remaining.
Skorupski had 24 points and seven rebounds. Hadley had 15 points and nine rebounds. Hunter had nine points and 12 rebounds and Toderan had eight points and seven rebounds.
“Kaelyn Kaul’s defense was amazing,” Weyer added. “It doesn’t go in the scoreboard a lot of what she does.”

Skorupski led with 24 points in the win against the Warriors. She also had 13 rebounds and seven assists. Toderan had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists. Kaelyn Kaul had 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Hunter had seven points and 13 rebounds.
