CCS seeks community input on new strategic plan

Clarkston Community Schools (CCS) is currently in the process of developing a new district strategic plan. The process for creating the new plan will continue through the 2024-2025 school year. Through the process, CCS develop develop new mission and vision statements, set goals, decide on the actions necessary to achieve the goals and mobilize the resources needed to take action over the next five years.
This process will ultimately produce a road map of strategies that the district will use as a foundation for decision-making across our school system through 2030.
The district’s current strategic plan has served its students, staff and community well, but was created and implemented in 2019 and expires in 2025.
The district has followed the plan closely over the past several years, regularly updating the board of education and the community with progress and success stories, including the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), creating opportunities for students to explore different career pathways and building community through whole-person development.
The Strategic Planning Team has started reviewing the current plan to determine what goals have been accomplished, what still needs to be done, or what is no longer applicable. The Strategic Planning Team has 51 members and is made up of district and building administrators, teachers, department heads, academic and social-emotional coaches, board of education members, parents and community members.
The team will also be analyzing academic data, researching best practices, and gathering feedback from students, staff, families and community members.
In order to do that, the district has developed an anonymous online survey to allow all community members, directly connected to the district or not, to weigh in on what CCS is doing well and where there are opportunities for improvement.
The survey should only take about 10 minutes and asks questions that cover areas including academics, finance and operations, community partnerships and more.
The survey can be taken online at oaklandk12mi.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6wZjoAsFMjZebrw?Q_CHL=qr and is open from May 20 to May 31.
Questions regarding the strategic plan or survey can be directed to CCS Director of Marketing and Community Relations Kelly Allen at klallen@clarkston.k12.mi.us or 248-623-5460. — M.K.
