Cheerleaders take third at Lake Orion

The Oxford Varsity Competitive Cheer Team took third place at the Lake Orion Invitational on Jan. 24. Winning the competition was Rochester Varsity with 733 points and taking second was host Lake Orion.
Oxford took second in Round 1 with 186 points. Rochester came in first with 199 and Lake Orion third with 181.
“We dropped dramatically in second round with a score of 171,” said Coach Kristy Gibson-Marshall in an e-mail. “This is because we are lacking some important gymnastic skills.”
The Lady Wildcats went into Round 3 in third place, behind Rochester and Lake Orion, and scored 283.5 points with their routine.
“Our final round improved dramatically from last weekend,” said Gibson-Marshall. “I think it was a good performance overall, but improvements are necessary.”
The ladies have some time to prepare and grow – their next competition isn’t until Feb. 7 in Chesaning.
