Exterior work on the Clarkston city hall renovation project has been mostly completed, with construction work shifting inside for the next couple wintry months.
“I’m happy with the progress so far,” said City Manager Jonathan Smith. “It’s under budget and going really well.”
Work on the new City Council meeting room has been completed enough for administration employees to move into it, allowing contractors to gut and renovate the old office area.
When complete, the administration area will include a new entrance with counter and security door, two offices, and a restroom that will be open to the public.
The goal is to complete this work in February, at which time City Council can resume having its meetings at city hall. Council is meeting at Clarkston United Methodist Church during the construction project.
The $300,000 project also includes renovation and construction of an expanded garage area for the DPW. Insulation and drywall work should be complete there in a couple weeks.
