Five Clarkston High School students competed at the 2021 Virtual Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference, April 26-May 9.
Nathan Dimmer, Reagan Hakala, Julia Heilman, Phoebe Savoie, and Jacob Zelinski competed against over 4,000 of the nation’s best students. Qualifying for the conference requires students to place among the top five in their state for at least one competitive event.
Zelinski competed in Payroll Accounting, and Hakala, Heilman, and Savoie represented Clarkston on the national stage as the Financial Analyst Team.
Dimmer competed in multiple events and medaled in five: first place in Business Meeting Management Concepts, third place in Java Programming, sixth place in Digital Marketing Concepts, eighth place in Computer Programming Principles, and eighth place in Information Technology Principles.
“I’m extraordinarily proud of how the entire team competed on the national level this year, even with all the difficulties imposed by COVID,” said Dimmer, 2021 CHS graduate and BPA President. “On a personal note, I am also pleased with my accomplishments, and being able to end my fourth and final year in BPA on a high note.”
Dimmer also earned the Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award for his more than 300 hours of volunteer service at CHS and in the Clarkston community.
The PVSA is a national program that recognizes individuals who have volunteered above and beyond to help their community.
