Just before 7 p.m. deputies responded to the Meijer located at 3610 Market Place Circle in Rochester Hills for the report of a retail fraud, July 16.
Upon arrival, deputies met with store security officers who stated a male subject had failed to scan items before exiting the store. Security officers attempted to stop the 44-year-old Clarkston man, but it was to no avail. He fled the scene in a white Cadillac Escalade.
A short time later, a caller contacted the Sheriff’s Operation Center to report that a white Cadillac Escalade had struck another vehicle at Rochester and Auburn roads. The witness reported that the responsible vehicle had parked in a nearby store’s parking lot.
Deputies responded to the scene and located the vehicle with the Clarkston man and a 45-year-old Pontiac woman inside.
The man was found to be the suspect from the retail fraud incident that had occurred at Meijer. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.
Deputies located the stolen items from Meijer inside of the vehicle.
The male subject was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of charges.
While deputies were speaking with the female subject, she told to deputies she had methamphetamine in her wallet and doesn’t know what to do with it. She added she no longer wanted to use it. Deputies located the narcotics and took possession of them.
The female was released pending further investigation.
