Deputies called to Pine Island

Less than a week after a consent judgment was agreed to by both the township and former State Senator Mat Dunaskiss, Oakland County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to Pine Island because of after-hours partying.
According to an OCSD report, deputies were dispatched after a call from a neighbor reporting several vehicles on the island after the 10 p.m. curfew agreed on in the judgment.
Township Supervisor Jerry Dywasuk said the judgment has yet to be signed by a judge, but it was ‘in good faith? that Dunaskiss would abide by the rules.
‘There were a lot of promises made and now it’s up to the township and Sheriff’s department to enforce them,? he said.
Once on the island, deputies found a bag of marijuana in plain view in one of the vehicles and cited a 23-year-old Waterford man for both possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Orion Substation of the OCSD said they have not received any word from the township to provide extra patrol in the area of Pine Island.
‘They do their job,? Dywasuk said. ‘The Sheriff’s department can only respond when citizens make a call.?
Dunaskiss was granted a marina by the township board at their June 4 meeting, but it came with several stipulations. The 10 p.m. curfew is in effect except for holiday weekends.
