Dragons remain undefeated, 4-0

The boys netted another two wins last week against Ferndale on Tuesday and Groves on Thursday, though both games were much closer than previous bouts.
Against Ferndale, which LOHS Coach Tom Risi said was an athletic and speedy program, the Dragons trailed in the third quarter, but rallied to win 72-57.
‘What I liked about the Ferndale game was evening the score in the third quarter, calling a time out and watching the kids respond to and overcome that pressure,? said Risi. ‘I like to see the way the kids respond to adversity, because I was worried how they would respond but I’m happy with how they came through. They could have crumbled when we lost the lead but they came back faster, stronger and better.
Leading the charge was senior Chaz Miller with 27 points, followed by juniors John McCarty with 18 and Nate Marcum with 14. Leading rebounders were Marcum and McCarty.
But while the Ferndale game was a positive display, the Groves game was ‘the definition of an ugly win.? The game ended in a close victory for the Dragons at 55-53, and Risi said hei team appeared frustrated at times.
‘It was a chippy game. We were probably a little more skilled or experienced so they had to play physically and it worked. It kept them in the game,? said Risi. ‘They played tough defense and our guys didn’t respond well to it. This is something we have to learn from.?
He said his team was fortunate to take the win but that he’ll be working with the players to do a better job sharing the ball and working on transitions.
The Dragons also played Andover yesterday. On Thursday, Lake Orion will play Romeo at home at 7 p.m.
