Duane R. Hummer, of Waterford, formerly of Clarkston, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2023 at the age of 81.
Born February 19, 1941 in Orion Township to Hilda and Ezra Hummer.
Husband of Connie for 58 years.
Father of Diane Swalwell and Karen (Mark) Petterson, grandpa “papa” of Jamie Swalwell and Andrew Petterson, and brother-in-law of Kathy Wilmot, Dan Reekwald, Russ (Michelle) Reekwald, and Theresa (late Anthony) DeBlasio. Also survived by longtime friend/son-in-law Tim Swalwell, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his siblings Stewart Hummer and Jane McCrory, and brother-in-law Jim Reekwald.
Duane retired after 30 years at Pontiac Motors. After retirement, he and Connie enjoyed Florida sunshine and owned and operated D & C Yard Décor as vendors at craft shows.
He built many additions/garages on family homes and could fix anything. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor. When he talked, people would listen.
Friends may visit Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston on Friday, January 20 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service is Saturday, January 21 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In honor of Duane’s service in the U.S. Navy, military honors with interment will be Monday, January 23 at 2 p.m at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
