Female bowlers continue perfect season

The Oxford Varsity Bowling teams bowled Holly this past weekend, with the Varsity Girls continuing their perfect season with a 20-10 win, while the Varsity Boys lost 37-3.
Oxford’s Kelly Cartner set a school record with a 445 total for two games, bowling a 224 and 221. Oxford’s Anna Moses followed with games of 183 and 163, helping Oxford secure their fourth win of the season. The girls won the first match against Holly 902-866, and they went on to win the second 849-785.
The win over Holly gives them a 3-0 record in league play, and 4-0 overall record.
The Varsity Boys bowled well in their matches against Holly, but fell short in both. In the baker matches, the boys lost game one 198-195, and the second game by 15 pins 214-199. Oxford bowled well in the match play, but Holly’s bowled a league high 1145 game.
Coach JR Lafnear thought his team bowled well. ‘Even though the scores were better we made some very big mistakes to let game 1 get away and had some bad breaks in game 2.”
Oxford’s John Taylor won both of his matches with games of 200 and 216. Senior Scott Compau bowled a 246 in his win.
With the loss, Oxford drops to 2-1 in league play, and 3-1 overall. Both teams play Linden next week.
