Grapplers open post season this week with district matches

Clarkston Varsity Wrestling wrapped the regular season last week with a league meet and final dual.
The Wolves had 12 place in the top seven during the OAA Red/White league meet last Friday.
Ashton Anderson (119) , Cole Wiegers (125), Mac Hanselman (130), Ethan Polick (145), Jacob Billette (152) and Jacob Jones (215) led the way finishing in first place.
Devin Trevino (160) finished in second place; Gabriel Gipe (112), in third place; Dru Martin (103), in fourth place; Angelo Marino (171), Frank Davis (189), in fifth place and Drew Stark (285), in seventh place.
Highlights included:
Dru Martin (103) defeated Birmingham Seaholm’s Grace Beshears with a fall, 2:19; and Stoney Creek’s Cade Odrobina, 6-0.
Gipe defeated Birmingham Seaholm’s Mark Kruszewski twice once with with a fall, 3:42 and again in the third place match with a major decistion, 16-6. He also defeated Rochester’s Gerardo Sierra Reyes in a major decision, 14-2.
Anderson defeated Rochester Adams’ Jacob Postek for first place with a technical fall, 16-1. He also defeated Adrian Adiwidjaja from Rochester with a technical fall, 15-0.
Wiegers defeated Stoney Creek’s Parke Yearego with a fall, 2:00.
Hanselman defeated Rochester’s Julian Foulaubash with a fall, 2:00.
Conor Donahue (140) defeated Birmingham Seaholm’s Jackson Vance for first place in a 11-1 major decision.
Polick defeated Rochester Adams’ Joseph Eble for first place in a 9-1 major decision.
Billette defeated Stoney Creek’s Joseph Schuman with a fall, :02; and Birmingham Seaholm’s Chaz Strecker with a technical fall, 17-2. Trevino defeated Birmingham Seaholm’s Chase Mentag, 2-1; and Rochester Adams’ Chase Montour with a fall, 2:00.
Marino defeated Rochester Mertz from Rochester for fifth place in a 15-6 major decision. He also defeated Rochester Adams’ Joseph Dreon, 12-10. Davis defeated Birmingham Seaholm’s Tyler Firestone for fifth place, 6-1. He also defeated Stoney Creek’s Matthew Daines, 8-3.
The Wolves lost their last dual to Detroit Catholic Central, a top-ranked team, last Thursday, 59-8.
Trevino and Wiegers won a match with a major decision to give Clarkston points.
Trevino defeated John Browning, 13-5; and Wiegers defeated Philip Burney, 12-4.
Clarkston heads to Troy on Wednesday for the MHSAA Wrestling Team District meet against Troy, Waterford Kettering and Waterford Mott, beginning at 5 p.m.
They host the MHSAA Wrestling Individual District tournament this Saturday.
