Hidden treasures to be at library

Items found at an archaeological dig at Ellis Farm will be on display at Clarkston Area Historical Society’s upcoming ‘Clarkston’s Hidden Treasures? exhibit.
But that’s just the beginning.
‘We are asking people to loan us anything interesting relating to Clarkston,? said Toni Smith, director of the society.
“The exhibit will include items found in Parke Lake, documents hidden behind walls of historic homes and lots of other great things that have been dug up and discovered,? said Smith. ‘The exhibit will include anything people have found in Clarkston.?
The privy dig by Oakland County Parks at the Springfield Township farm forms the basis of the exhibit
‘Items discovered during the dig will be on display at SCAMP designer showcase home before being displayed at the CCHS Museum,? Smith said.
Also on display are newly discovered photos from the early 1910s, including those of a family heading off on their wagon to an Independence Day picnic.
‘There are some amazing photos of the village,? she said.
Clarkston’s Hidden Treasures opens at 7 p.m., Aug. 12, in the community room at Clarkston Independence Library, 6495 Clarkston Road.
