Campers sat in the shade and enjoyed their popsicle treat as they ended their week long Future Wolves Girls Soccer Camp last Thursday.
For four days 56 girls in grades 3-8 learned basic technical and tactical skills for soccer.
“It was a great year and we had great girls,” said Sarah Wasilk, head coach for the Clarkston High School girls varsity soccer team.
“We are excited about the future of Clarkston soccer,” she added after seeing all the talent from the campers.
The girls worked on learning and improving their ball skills, one on one defending, passing, shooting and sportsmanship.
They also played in scrimmage games and competed against each other in knockouts, lightning rounds and their version of the World Cup.
Players received awards in each most improved player, sportsmanship and Lady Wolf.
“Everyone improved during the week,” said Wasilk when giving out the most improved player award. “It was a tough choice but three stood out by asking questions and were coachable.”
Olivia Toderman was the most improved player as well as Danielle Brennan and Megan Hushen.
“Danielle really came out of her shell and stepped up,” said Wasilk. “Megan also worked hard and took creative critism well.”
The sportsmanship award went to Carigan Price, Anna LeBourdais and Lynsie Graham.
“We stress a lot about being a good sport with other teams and with teammates and encourage others,” said Wasilk.
Jordan Klokeid, Ellie Vondette and Alicia Curry stood out for the Lady Wolf award.
“All did a great job,” Wasilk said before pulling everyone in for one last group cheer.
