The Lady Wolves are using time before their next set of games at Oxford to tweak a few things their recent losses exposed.
They went 1-2 in both the Lake Orion Quad and Rockford Quad last week.
“It was very tough competition,” said Kelly Pinner, head coach for Clarkston Varsity Volleyball about going against top teams in the state. “The good thing playing great teams like those is we see where our weaknesses are so we know what we need to continue to work on. If you play teams you beat all the time, you don’t discover your weaknesses. It’s definitely good for that.”
During the Orion quad on Aug. 22, the Wolves defeated Oxford 25-15 and 25-10. They lost to Notre Dame Prep, 25-19, 25-15; and Orion, 25-17, 25-19. They won the first match, 28-26.
Abbey Malinowski had 35 kills and 29 digs and Jennifer Chupinski had 33 digs.
Clarkston defeated Rockford in three games on Aug. 24, 25-17, 15-11 and lost 25-20.
“It was a big win for us,” Pinner said.
They lost to Mercy 25-18, 25-18, and went 1-2 against Portage Central winning the first game 25-19 and lost the next two 25-18 and 15-10.
Malinowski had 37 klls and 38 digs, and Kayla Luchenbach had 14 kills and four blocks.
