Luther (Skip) Bernard Schultz Jr., of Clarkston, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born on August 1, 1942, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Luther Sr. and Fern (Agar) Schultz.
Luther graduated from Pontiac Northern High School and went on to work at General Motors, starting on the assembly line. It was during that time that he met the love of his life, Elaine Keeley, on a blind date at a dance at the Clarkston High School Tennis Courts. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Luther was enlisted into the United States Army, where he served overseas in Germany during the Vietnam War. After three years of service, he returned to Michigan and resumed working at General Motors. His dedication to his work led to his completion of trade school, and he went on to work as a Die Maker for many years. Luther’s drive to continue learning and growing in his field led him to become a trainer, self-teaching the new computer software at the time and writing the manuals used to train employees. He worked at General Motors for a total of 39 years before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the UAW 653 Retirees Chapter. Outside of his professional life, Luther had many passions. He loved brain teaser puzzles, fixing anything and everything, and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed going on cruises, gardening, camping, boating, and watching the birds. His love for life was evident in everything he did, even in his later years, when he would often be found tinkering with his riding lawnmower, even making it go faster. Luther was a man of great faith, and he and his family were active members of St. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clarkston, where he was an usher, helped with the church luncheons, offering counter, and member of the Board of Properties.
Above all, Luther was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was deeply loved by his family, and his energy and enthusiasm for life were truly remarkable. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Elaine (Keeley) Schultz; his children, Heidi (Chad) Woltemath and Jason (Julie) Schultz; his granddaughter, Abigail; and his siblings, Carol Kepler and Diane (Hannah) Schultz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Sr. and Fern Schultz, his brother Robert Schultz, and his brother-in-law, Walter Kepler.
