Man injures eyes with chlorine

The Orion Township Fire Department and Rescue, along with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, responded to a call of a man with liquid chlorine on his face on Bluebird Hill Feb. 16.
According to an OCSD report, a 32-year-old Mockingbird Drive man, who works as a maintenance man at the Orion Estates Mobile Home Park on Brown Road, was injured after he spilled a chemical on himself while working in a new well pump house.
Michael Roper said he was attending to the chlorine chemical line when the line got loose and liquid chlorine spilled into his face and eyes. He managed to call 911, and Orion Fire checked his face and flushed his eyes with sterile saline and water from a nearby hose.
Roper signed off on ambulance service and was driven by a friend to the North Oakland Medical Center for emergency care.
