The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help to locate Bertram Weston, a 48-year-old Independence Township resident.
Weston left his home on April 27, 2016, indicating he was going to travel to his home state of New York. He was expected to arrive at his family’s home in Staten Island the following day. His family said he never arrived to his destination.
Weston’s wife contacted the Sheriff’s Office on May 9 to report her soon to be ex-husband accepted a new job in the New York City area, and he had rented a vehicle to drive there. The vehicle was never returned to the rental company at JFK Airport on April 28.
It was reported as stolen by the rental company to the Waterford Township Police Department and was recovered in Pontiac. Weston remains unaccounted for.
Weston’s cellular phone has had no outgoing calls since his departure. However, cell tower hits indicated he may still be in the Pontiac area. Flyers circulating in the area have garnered responses which indicate he may be close by.
Bertram Weston is a black male, and approximately 6’2 and 170 pounds. He is hard-of-hearing and wears hearing aids. His speech is affected by his hearing impairment. His head is shaved bald, but he would have a full head of hair if it has been allowed to grow out.
