Monthly college hockey honors

Clarkston native and Boston University sophomore defenseman Ty Gallagher has been named the Hockey East Army ROTC Defender of the Month for January.
Gallagher played a key part in BU’s vault to first place in Hockey East, posting three goals and five assists for eight points in eight games.
The Terriers went 7-1-0 in the first month of 2023 as Gallagher netted one game-winning goal and finished with a plus-eight rating.
His eight points were second-most among league blueliners and his plus-minus was fifth in the nation at his position.
Through 27 games this season, Gallagher, also a graduate of the U.S. National Team Development Program in Plymouth, has recorded three goals and 13 assists for 16 points after collecting 16 points in 34 games as a freshman in 2021-22.
He was also a seventh-round draft pick (217th overall) of the Boston Bruins at the 2021 NHL Draft.
Gallagher is a 2021 graduate of Clarkston High School.
