After Adam Kern stepped down as principal at Clarkston Junior High School in May, John Bennink took over for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year on an interim basis.
In an email to CJHS families last week, Clarkston Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Shawn Ryan announced he is recommending Bennink be the permanent principal, pending school board approval at the July 11 meeting.
“Mr. Bennink has been a valued member of Clarkston Community Schools since 2004,” Ryan said.
Bennink had been assistant principal of Sashabaw Middle School since 2015. Previously, he served as a German teacher, a behavior interventionist, and a coach.
“He has high expectations for students and staff and is committed to ensuring that all CJHS students and parents feel that they are part of the Clarkston family,” said Ryan.
In addition, CJHS Assistant Principal Monica McGraw has retired.
Full CJHS staff announcements are forthcoming from the district.
