Oxford-Brandon skiers kick off the new season

It’s heaven right now for the Oxford-Brandon ski team as the snow falls, falls and falls and falls.
The Wildcats and Blackhawks kicked into gear for the 2004 season with the boys splitting against Saginaw Garber and Carmen-Ainsworth and the girls winning both races on Jan. 12.
The boys lost 41-32 against Saginaw with Brandon’s Tim Smith taking first on the slalom with 27.47 and second on the giant slalom with 26.68. Also placing was Brandon’s Ryan Hotchkiss on the giant slalom with 26.72.
Against Carmen-Ainsworth, the team won 35-38. Placing on the slalom were Brandon’s Tim Smith in second with 27.47 and Oxford’s Shawn Dean with 34.88. On the giant slalom were Smith in second with 26.68 and Hotchkiss in third with 26.72.
Carmen-Ainsworth’s girls team was a no show for the day, and the Oxford-Brandon ladies blocked Saginaw from even placing.
Leading ladies on the slolam were Karen Offer in first with 30.27, Grace Auchterlonie in second with 32.51, Lauren Bayliss in third with 32.26and Heather Tiffany in fourth with 38.60.
On the giant slalom, the line-up went Auchterlonie in first with 27.45, Offer in second with 27.76, Bayliss in third with 27.89 and Tiffany in fourth with 30.77.
The Wildcats-Blackhawks hit the slopes again on Jan. 21 against Fenton at Mt. Holly.
