Runners participate in Flint race for experience

Runners from the boys cross country team spent Saturday getting ready for the fall season to begin.
They participated in the 32nd Annual Crim Race in Flint.
‘It wasn’t required for them to go,? said Coach Mike Taylor. ‘They had the option. The boys that went did pretty well. I was pleased.?
Sophomore Adam Bruderick ran last year and returned to run in the 5K race.
‘It was a good learning experience,? he said.
Besides finishing 17.05, a minute less than last year, he enjoyed the people and the atmosphere during the event.
Also, running in the same race were sophomores Nathan Ross and Isaac Young.
‘It helped me to try to keep a constant pace and run better this season,? said Ross, finishing at 19.05.
Young finished at 20.48 and commented on how it helped him get used to running.
Sophomores Austin Yarger and Daniel Byrne chose to participate in the 10-mile race.
‘I enjoyed the race,? said Yarger. ‘I was able to keep a constant pace and take in the sights – including a man in the race dressed as Batman.?
Yarger finished 1:04.57 and Byrne finished a few minutes prior at 1:02.41.
‘It prepared me to feel how tired I was and push myself harder,? Byrne shared.
The five join their teammates on September 2 for the Cavalier Classic at Carman-Ainsworth High School in Flint.
The girls team is also competing in the race.
