SCAMP gave out its annual VIP awards for donors and volunteers who make a difference in the program earlier this month.
“We are so grateful to the individuals and groups that give so much to our SCAMPers and know we couldn’t do what we do without their help,” said Aimee Baker, executive director of SCAMP. “The VIP awards are one small way to show our appreciation.”
This year’s awards included the Big Heart Award, which went to America’s Corvette Club of Michigan; the Bob Brumback Award, given to Jennifer Krausman; the Smiles Award, presented to Carmen Calcaterra; and the Helping Hands Award, which went to the Orchard Lake Country Club, Oakland Hills Country Club and Bloomfield Hills Country Club for the Eagles for Children Grants.
The Corvette club has an annual show and all proceeds from the auction are donated to SCAMP. They also caravan out to the camp each summer so the kids can see the Corvettes, sit in them, and get pictures taken.
Krausman is a longstanding SCAMP board member who donates many hours of service on the board and at events as well as financially contributing to SCAMP.
“She is a loyal supporter,” Baker said.
“I am so proud to be a part of SCAMP and its 50-year history,” added Krausman. “I’m very humbled to receive this award.”
Calcaterra makes crafts and sells them at the Walk and Roll, then donates profits to SCAMP. She is a past SCAMPer and now works at SCAMP during the camp. She also made and donated crafts for the goodie bags at the ice cream social this year.
