In the early morning hours of September 26, deputies responded to the 4000 block of Clarkston Road on the report of multiple shots fired.
The complainant advised his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend had fired shots at his vehicle, but no injuries were reported.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim, a 39-year-old Independence Township man, who stated he had walked his girlfriend to her car. He then heard a vehicle pull into his driveway.
The victim said he recognized the driver to be his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, a 25-year-old Oxford Township man, who fired multiple shots in the victim’s direction, striking his truck while yelling that he was going to kill him.
The shooter then fled the scene.
An Oakland County Sheriff’s Office evidence technician processed the scene and recovered 12 shell casings. The victim’s vehicle was hit at least seven times.
The suspect contacted the Sheriff’s Operations Center to advise he wanted to turn himself in. Deputies responded and went to his residence. They took him into custody without incident.
The man had given the firearm to his mother. Deputies went to her residence and secured the semi-automatic handgun.
The Oxford man was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending charges.
