Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-9 to slow the spread of the Novel Coronavirus closed restaurants, cafes, coffee houses, bars, taverns, brewpubs, distilleries, clubs, movie theaters, indoor and outdoor performance venues, gymnasiums, fitness centers, recreation centers, indoor sports facilities, indoor exercise facilities, exercise studios, spas, and casinos, until March 30.
The order does not restrict restaurant delivery, drive-through, walk-up, or drive-up service, and allows up to five people inside at a time to pick up orders, as long as they stay six feet apart from each other. Willful violation is a misdemeanor.
Executive Order 2020-7 prohibits visitors to all health care, residential care, congregate care, and juvenile justice facilities except for medical care, daily living support, attorneys, and parents or guardians, with assessment for symptoms and risk factors of all visitors. Violation is a misdemeanor
Executive Order 2020-8 prohibits reselling retail products at a price grossly in excess of the purchase price, selling any product at a price more than 20 percent higher than before March 9, unless due to increased cost, until April 13. Violation is a misdemeanor.
Executive Order 2020-10 expands eligibility for unemployment benefits until April 14 to workers who have unanticipated family care responsibility, including childcare responsibilities due to school closures, or those caring for loved ones who become ill; workers who are sick, quarantined, or immunocompromised with no access to paid family and medical leave or laid off; and first responders who become ill or are quarantined due to exposure to COVID-19. Access to benefits for unemployed workers will also be extended from 20 to 26 weeks; application eligibility period increased from 14 to 28 days; and normal in-person registration and work search requirements will be suspended. Apply for unemployment benefits online at Michigan.gov/UIA or 1-866-500-0017. Employers won’t be charged for unemployment benefits due to an executive order.
Executive Order 2020-11 updates order 2020-5, and prohibits all events and indoor assemblies over 50 people, except health care, workplaces not open to the public, state legislature, mass transit, groceries and consumer goods, agricultural, and construction. It also closes all K-12 schools until April 6, child care facilities to remain open. Violation is a misdemeanor.
Executive Order 2020-12 temporarily lifts weight and other delivery-related restrictions for vehicles carrying essential supplies, through April 13.
