Back on December 22 at 8:25 p.m., deputies responded to the Shell gas station, 6480 Sashabaw Road, on the report of a stolen automobile.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the complainant, a 23-year-old Independence Township man, who stated he had parked at the gas station, leaving the vehicle running, unlocked with the keys in the ignition, while he went inside to make a purchase. He went outside to leave and discovered his automobile was gone.
The Sheriff’s Operation Center broadcast a “be on the lookout” (BOL) for the vehicle. Shortly after, the Sheriff’s Operation Center was advised by the Waterford Police Department that they were at the scene of a property damage accident involving the stolen vehicle.
Deputies arrived at the scene of the property damage accident and took the responsible, an 18-year-old Pontiac woman, into custody without incident. She refused medical treatment. Oakland County detectives responded and began their investigation.
The woman was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending charges.
