The Clarkston Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (CSEPAC) honored the hard work of all those working with students with special needs at the Sparkle Awards ceremony at Clarkston Community Schools Administration Building, March 30.
Over 250 people attended the event, which was sponsored by the Clarkston Foundation.
Heather Roeser, president of CSEPAC, said she organized the awards ceremony after hearing of a similar awards ceremony at Rochester Schools.
“Bus drivers, other students, teachers, and paraprofessionals were all nominated,” Roeser said.
While everyone received recognition, one person or group from each category were selected for a special award on behalf of that group.
Roeser said CSEPAC is a fairly new group to Clarkston Community Schools.
“We have been together a year,” she said. “We have parent representatives in each building and we spread information on programs for students with special needs.”
