Successful Rush

Varsity and JV football team players walked door-to-door throughout the neighborhoods.
They had their paper bags ready and open to any donations the community had to give for the 12th Annual Rush for Food.
Players from the freshmen team awaited at Lighthouse Emergency Services, off Sashabaw Road, to collect the bags from vehicles, sort and put into the building.
The goal was to collect more food than during the previous year. They succeeded by collecting 4,431 pounds of food ? 431 more than last year.
They also collected 20 garbage bags full of cans and $172 in cash was donated. Lighthouse will use both to purchase more food when it’s needed.
‘I think it’s a great for the community to help out those that need help and we are privileged enough we can help out,? said Steve Carpenter, a junior on the varsity team.
The high school teams collected non-perishable foods and Clarkston Chiefs collected paper products.
Wright Action Pix and Sports Creations donated for the pre-Rush dinner, Springfield Kroger and Clarkston Athletic Boosters donated supplies. ~WAR
