It’s an exciting, fun year for the Clarkston Girls Swim and Dive team as they continue to grow.
The team added 19 swimmers and divers to the roster including 12 freshmen.
“We are still seeing where we are at, figuring out where we want them, and rolling the dice as we go,” said Amber Miller, head coach, adding they are laying solid foundation for the girls to grow in the program. ” It will be a challenge for sure, but we are just taking every opportunity to grow, learn, and get better every meet that comes along, every practice that comes along. We are excited to where we can take them because there’s a lot of talent within them.”
The diving team has four new divers and they return Julia Hunt and Madison Verbeke, who competed at the state finals last year.
“Julia is doing fantastic,” Miller said. “Madison will be great to watch. She’s diving well. All divers are working hard to improve their dives and degrees of difficulty.”
The team is in the OAA Red this season.
“We are going against the best of the best every single meet,” Miller said. “We tell the girls there are no easy meets. Every meet is a challenge. Every single day we need to bring our ‘A’ game. There will be no easy tasks and a lot of character building but that’s how they get better.”
She added though it’s a rebuilding year, it will also be a fun year as they celebrate all the personal victories such as personal bests, time drops, overcoming fears, and learning and growing.
