Temporary fire chief in Addison

Addison Township’s former Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Morawski has been temporarily promoted.
At the March 23 township meeting, officials voted unanimously to appoint Morawski interim fire chief until a permanent chief is found and appointed.
Morawski replaced George Spencer, who resigned March 2 after more than 10 years on the job.
The interim chief had been appointed to assistant fire chief back in June. He’s been with Addison’s fire department for 15 years.
Supervisor Bruce Pearson asked the fire board to consider the preferences they’ll have for a new fire chief. Once he receives that information, he plans to use it to put together a public notice for a new chief along with a job description and a contract for review.
Under the interim agreement, Morawski would work a maximum of 30 hours per week at $25 per hour as the interim chief. This pay rate does not include the separate wages for being on call or training.
‘So far, Jerry has done an excellent job,? Pearson said. ‘I’m very happy with his job performance…He’s well aware of the workings of the fire department and he was a natural to take over at this time until we decide to start testing for new fire chief.?
