Track teams slow down in end of regular season

The Oxford High School track teams suffered some tough losses to the Fenton Tigers and Linden Eagles at their final tri-meet of the season on May 12.
The Lady Wildcats lost to Linden 54-82 and to Fenton 38-98.
Krysten Sylva once again had a strong showing with a first place finish in the 100 meter at 13.07. The 400 meter relay (Tiara Tatarczuk, Deann Kujawa, Darci Kujawa and Krysten Sylva) also competed well with a first place finish at 52.301. Yet again, Kacey Cookingham dominated on the field with a second place finish in shot put at 32?3? and a first place finish in discus with 90?3?.
The Wildcat men also had a difficult night with only two individuals taking first positions. Senior Donnie Richmond took first place in three events: 1600 meter (4:38.31), 800 meter (2:02.90) and 3200 meter (9:51.36). Teammate Vince Belitsos also took top honors for the day, and maintained his undefeated status in both shot put and discus. He threw 53?6? in shot put and 141?07? in discus.
The Oxford Wildcats are now preparing for their toughest competition of the year: MHSAA regionals on May 21. The team will finish up their season with the Flint Metro League Tournament on May 25 and the Oakland County Invitational on May 28.
