The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office will accept Halloween candy as part of its 10th annual Treats for Troops, sending sweets, thanks, and encouragement to troops overseas.
Drop off Halloween candy, individually wrapped, no chocolate, at Independence Township Substation, 6560 Citation Drive; Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 38E, Pontiac; and other substations from Friday, Nov. 1, through Tuesday, Nov. 5. Children are encouraged to include thank you, holiday, and other notes to the troops with the donation.
Schools are also welcome to participate – designate one volunteer to bring in candy no later than Nov. 5 at 4 p.m.
“Treats for Troops is a great way parents can participate in a community service project with their kids while showing our troops we support them back home,” said Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
