Undefeated in OAA Red league play

Clarkston Varsity Volleyball defeated two OAA Red foes last week.
They won their game at Rochester Adams last Thursday, 3-0, going 25-10, 25-22 and 25-22 in matches.
Sophomore Cayla Cogan had 17 kills and junior Paige Giehtbrock had ten kills. Senior Eli Adams had six blocks and four digs. Junior McKenna Hampton had seven blocks. Sophomore Kiley Gallagher had seven digs and senior Summer Jidas had six digs. Freshman Chloe Giehtbrock had 17 assists and sophomore Emery Kuebler had 15 assists.

The Wolves opened last week with a 3-0 win over Troy Athens, Sept. 21.
They won the first match 25-16.
They jumped to a 2-0 start in the second match off with points from Cogan and Adams. Athens scored a point and the Wolves responded going on a 8-point run before the Red Hawks scored again. The girls closed the match with a 25-6 win and won the final match, 25-13.
Paige Geihtbrock and Adams had eight kills each. Freshman Addison Newblatt had six aces. Junior Emma Larkins had four blocks. Jidas had 11 digs and Gallagher had five digs. Chloe Giehtbrock had 21 assists.
Before going into league play, the Wolves played in their second Power Series and post a win over Stoney Creek and losses to St. Mary’s Catholic and Novi, Sept. 18
“Power Series is awesome because it is always competitive so every match you play in that series is generally going to be good competitive,” said Ali Smith, head coach, adding the team was missing their starting setter and outside hitter. “I think it was a good experience and great for some of the other kids to step up into those spaces. I was really impressed with how we stepped up and filled in those positions Younger kids who don’t have as much experience and they did a nice job. They were impressive. It’s something to look at and think about the future as well.”
The Wolves (14-7-1, 4-0 OAA Red) opened this week against Lake Orion and head Bloomfield Hills on Thursday. They host Oxford on Tuesday, Oct. 5. JV plays at 5:30 p.m., varsity follows.
