Undefeated season

The Clarkston Boys Junior Varsity Soccer B team finished their season undefeated on Oct. 8.
‘In the game of soccer, I believe it is rare to have an undefeated season through 12 games against several different teams mixed with home and away games,” said Coach Tony Sajan. “I have been around the sport for a long time and to go undefeated for the entire season is an awesome accomplishment.?
The boys began the season on Aug. 22 with a 4-0 shutout against Bloomfield Hills. It wasn’t the only shutout as they continued with eight more during the season with Rochester, 4-0, 6-0 and 3-0; Rochester Adams, 7-0 and 3-0; Lake Orion, 1-0; Stoney Creek, 5-0; and Royal Oak, 1-0.
‘I believe we were only down one goal in one game for about 10 minutes. Other than that we were either tied 0 to 0 or we were leading for the entire season,” Sajan added. “We had strong goal tending along with a smart defensive line and great effort from midfielders and forwards.?
The boys finished the season with a 10-0-2, tying against Troy Athens, 0-0, on Aug. 25, and Troy, 1-1, last Wednesday in their last game of the season.
‘Troy was undefeated like us,? Sajan said, adding the boys were down by one goal in the first half. ‘This was the first time our kids were in a losing position during a game. They fought hard and came back to tie the game and for the balance of the game we had the other team on their heels.?
He added what helped the boys were they had the proper skills, speed, strength, soccer sense and three traits – drive, chemistry and leadership.
‘They worked hard all summer and fall to be ready for the season,? Sajan said. ‘They all came together each and every day like a family.?
The team includes freshman Nolan Cook, Parker Daly-Seiler, Brady Dickers, Bailey Dula, Finn Eblenkamp, Cole Edwards, Mason Gergar, Matt Heilman, Garrison Kaul, John Loch, Trevor Massey, Chad Morris, Daniel Prada, Luke Quilliams, Michael Weiler, Conor Woodward, Nolan Young, David Zurek; sophomores Trevor Heasley, Gavin Slater, Ryan Spehar, JT Tedder and Christian Uhlig.
The Wolves are back next year to continue their success with their teammates and for the Clarkston Boys Soccer program.
