It is finally here.
No, not the countdown to Christmas, though that is certainly on the radar.
It’s the end of summer yard work!
With the cold weather essentially here, and coming on strong, it’s time to put away the hedge clippers and mulch and curl up in a blanket and enjoy some good old-fashioned time inside away from the elements.
Now, it’s not that cold yet, but once the Red Wings drop the puck and the Lions start losing, it’s officially fall and sooner than later, winter.
Woohoo!
Fall has always been my favorite time of year. I love the colors in our great state and I love that Halloween leads to Thanksgiving, which leads to Christmas and then a New Year.
The fall season is when my wife and I got married some 17 years ago on a day pretty much like what we have had the past few weeks.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the summer months and all that comes with that. I really do.
It’s just that fall is like that “tweener,” you know? Still not uncomfortably cold but still not sauna-like humidity.
I guess fall is just a good time to relax and get out to see all that comes with the season – bonfires, cider and donuts, high school marching band shows (fit in between high school football games), a big ol’ pot of chili and the sense of closure as the lawnmower is put away for the season, the pool is covered, and that most Sundays will have football fans covering their faces and wondering how the Lions didn’t find a way to win but found a way to lose … again.
