Wrestlers pin down weekend wins
Clarkston Wrestling finished tournaments for the regular season during the weekend.
The varsity team competed at the Bay City John Glenn tournament on Saturday where the Wolves defeated Sanford Meridian in round one, 62-15.
They lost to Westland John Glenn during round three, 33-31, and Algonac during round two, 36-31.
The Clarkston B team competed at the Fenton JV Invitational.
Finishing in first place were Maxim Brown and Matteo Marino. Anthony Cach, Joel Carter and Evan Holler finished in second place. Gabriel Bennett,Lillian Francy and Murray Mitchell finished in third place. Michael Langlois and Blake Timmons finished in fourth place.
Clarkston posted two wins over teams in South Lyon on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
The Wolves defeated South Lyon East, 63-18. Posting wins with falls were Ryan Rector (135) over Kellen LaPernna; Cayden Strong (140) over Jason Conklin; Gabe Gipe (152) over Hudson Shiffered; Jacob Boisvert (171) over Ale Benitez; Trent Geiger (215) over Will Shaeffer; Preston Lefevre (103) over Samuel Turley; and Brady Vogt (125) over Joshua Strumpfer.
Ethan Lefevre (145) won his match over Thaddeus in a 11-8 decision.
Brock Trevino (189), Archer Anderson (119) and Matthew Jaffke (130) won with voids.
The Wolves also posted a win over South Lyon, 54-24. Posting wins with falls were Gipe over Luke Weaver; Trevino over Jason Seiter; Geiger over Kailyn Garrett; Camden Jamison (285) over Brett Groth; Preston Lefevre over Brodie Newcomb; and Vogt (119) over Daniel Balestrieri.
Wins by technical falls were Rector over Duke McDonald, 17-2; Ethan Lefevre over Mason Melcher, 15-0; and Anderson (112) over Hunter Oliver, 17-0. Strong won his match over Danny Russel in a 4-0 decision.

Hoops finish week 1-1
With 38 seconds left in the first quarter, the Clarkston Girls Varsity Basketball senior Izzy Hadley tied the score against L’Anse Creuse North.
Senior Maddy Skorupski scored five points in the next 24 seconds to to put the Wolves up, 17-12.
The girls continued the lead finishing the first half with a 38-30 lead with two points from sophomore Emily Valencia, another two from Hadley and a three-pointer from Skorupski.
L’Anse Creuse North went on a 12-point run midway through the third quarter to take the lead and held onto to it, finishing with a 64-56 win over the Wolves.
Skorupski led with 30 points. Emily Valencia had 11 points and Hadley had nine points.
The Wolves defeated Royal Oak on Jan. 25, 55-23. Skorupski led with 17 points. KeiraTolmie had 11 points, Hadley had ten points and Valencia had nine points.
Clarkston hosts West Bloomfield this Thursday and Southfield Arts & Technology on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
JV plays at 5:30 p.m., with varsity following.
