Jack Kenneth Ziegler, a 19-year-old Independence Township man, died from injuries sustained in a car crash on Clarkston Road just west of Eston Road, 3:12 a.m., Oct. 23. According to investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction unit, he was traveling westbound when he ran off the curved road to the right and struck a tree. Paramedics from the Independence Township Fire Department took the driver to McLaren Hospital – Oakland. Ziegler was wearing his seatbelt, but there was no airbag deployment inside the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
