The 12U Lake Orion Dragons played outstanding baseball and finished in third place in the 12U National Division of the fifth annual USYBA World Series in Knoxville, TN recently.
The Dragons had several rain delays during the week, but still managed to play 10 games in six days. The Dragons played seven pool play games, and earned the number three seed when they defeated the Tennessee Rangers, 15-5.
In the double elimination playoffs, the Dragons lost their first game, 7-6, to the Florida Tiger Point Warriors.
Andy Mosier and Aidan Murdock gave the Dragons a 5-0 lead in the third inning, when they both hit solo homeruns over the 220-foot fence, but Florida scored a run with two outs in the last inning for the win.
The Dragons bounced back in their second playoff game, pounding out 19 hits in an 18-0 shutout over the Rangers.
Casey Burke only allowed one base runner and threw a four-inning, no-hitter for the win.
The Dragons lost in the semi-finals, 10-3, against the Warriors, but Mosier hit his third homerun of the week, giving the Dragon fans some excitement.
The Dragons scored 63 runs, had 84 hits and utilized 10 pitchers during their World Series week.
Mosier led the team with 15 hits and 13 RBIs. Josh Stocchi led the team with 10 runs scored, and had six hits. Burke had 12 hits and 12 RBIs.
Jake Pratt had 11 hits and nine runs scored. Matt Musary had 10 hits and six RBIs. Murdock had nine hits and six RBIs.
Shawn Ramaekers had six hits and five RBIs. Collin McGran had five hits and four RBIs. Josh Ruggeri had four hits and three RBIs. Stephen Nowicki had three hits and five RBIs, while Mike Nelson had three hits and a team-high seven walks for the Dragons.
