How about a sidewalk?

Residents near the portion of Orion Road in the Village of Lake Orion might soon have a sidewalk to travel on.
Village council members on Feb. 23 agreed to apply for $23,020 in Tri-Party Funds to help construct a sidewalk along the west side of Orion Road between Flint and Atwater Streets.
The Road Commission for Oakland County and the Oakland County Board of Commissioners jointly established the Tri-Party Fund to provide monies for public road improvements.
Local communities must share one third of the cost and the project must involve a county road. The village will be responsibile for $7,673 of the Orion Road sidewalk project.
According to LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel, the Downtown Development Authority will probably assume the village’s share of the cost.
She said the DDA board last year indicated it wanted to provide sidewalks along the south side of Flint Street, the west side of Orion Road and the north side of Atwater to make it easier for people living in that area to walk downtown.
