Village clerk calls it quits

Christine Burns submitted her letter of resignation at the end of Tuesday night’s Oxford Village Council meeting.
‘After much soul searching, my husband and I have decided that now is the time for me to spend more time with our children,? wrote the village clerk/treasurer/assistant manager in a letter she read to council.
Council hired Burns in July 2005 to replace retiring clerk Rose Bejma and retiring treasurer Linda Smith.
Burns offered council an ‘open-ended resignation date? to help the village get through the next few weeks.
‘I have not indicated a final date of employment as I wish to give the village an opportunity to instigate a search for a suitable replacement,? Burns wrote.
