NHS collects a mountain of clothes for needy folks

The myth that teenagers are nothing but selfish troublemakers is consistently shattered by National Honor Society students at Oxford High School.
NHS students senior Amanda Helton and junior Kera Presbie recently organized and coordinated a school-wide drive which collected approximately 200 trash bags (30-gallon size) full of used clothing donations for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Detroit.
All OHS fourth-hour classes contributed bags and boxes full of clothing and shoes to the drive.
‘There’s a lot more than we expected,? Helton said.
‘People are incredibly generous in our community,? said NHS adviser Dan Sargent. ‘I can’t believe how much was donated.?
On Sunday, April 29, Oxford’s NHS students will travel to Flint to help out at the North End Soup Kitchen.
