Swimmers fall to Waterford United

The Oxford varsity girls swim team lost to Waterford United last Tuesday, 73-113, although they broke personal and school records that night.
Sophomore Allison Woonton won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:14.28, creating a new school record for Oxford.
Sophomores Kaitlyn Kimmel and Jennie Sunman both broke personal records in the 500-meter freestyle event in 4th and 5th place, respectively.
Other key swimming events where the Wildcats did their best were the 50-meter freestyle, where freshmen Anna Daves and Sarah Skelton took 3rd and 4th, respectively.
Woonton took 1st in the 200-IM, while junior Caroline Kerbelis took 4th.
Senior Anna Bonfiglio took 2nd in the 1-meter dive, sophomore Olivia Martin took 3rd and sophomore Molly Bonfiglio took 4th.
Freshman Jenna Mallard took 1st in the 100-freestyle and 2nd in the 500-freestyle, while Oxford 400-freestyle relay swimmers, Mallard, Daves and sophomore Rikki Jarvis took 2nd.
Junior Brianna Pastewski took 5th in the 100-meter breaststroke and senior Kera Presbie, Alexis Desotell, Daves and Jennifer Smillie took 2nd in the 200-freestyle relay.
The Wildcats will take on Holly and Clio on Thursday, Sept. 20, at home at 6 p.m.
